TNT E-MAIL CONTEST
TNT E-MAIL CONTEST
We all know that TNT still hasn't ordered more Pretender movies, so Lois' Daily Planet is running a contest to encourage Pretender fans to BURY them in friendly E-mails, in hopes of getting them to come around to our point of view ASAP.  They are all still very high on the show over there at TNT, but since the AOL buy-out, the purse strings have been a little tight.  I'm hoping that enough E-mails will help our friends at TNT to convince the AOL bean counters to loosen them up a little faster :-)

Here are the contest rules:

This contest is running NOW and will continue to run until December 31, 2001 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time (one minute before New Year's - LOIS TIME).

We would like you to E-mail TNT, to request MORE PRETENDER MOVIES.  If we want to have any chance of getting more Pretender movies, we really, really, REALLY need for TNT to get a TON of mail about this - both asking for more Pretender movies and, after Pretender: Island of the Haunted airs on December 10th, to thank TNT for making it and to let them know that we watched it.

You can click at the end of this sentence to send the first e-mail, then add the resulting addy to your address book for future e-mails.  E-Mail TNT

On any additional e-mails that you send, please include the phrase, "More Pretender Movies," (or something similar) in the subject line, so that your e-mail gets routed to the appropriate person at TNT.

On your mails to TNT, *BCC* the following E-mail address so that we will get a copy of it:  morepretender@yahoo.com

** Note that BCC means a "blind" copy will go to us, so that the person reading them at TNT will not see that it is also going elsewhere, and won't think something strange is happening :-)

You can enter once per day, PER E-Mail ID.   If you have more than one ID, feel free to use it/them, as long as you enter only one time per day, per ID.   The more times you enter, the better your chances are of winning.

We will be judging your E-Mails on originality, the best reasons given for making more movies, humor, creativity AND there will be two separate prizes given to the people who send the MOST e-mails between now and December 31 (so that people who don't think they are especially creative or original can still have two chances to win something).

There are 3 judges - each will assign a numerical value to each E-Mail received.   The top FIVE mails in the categories other than "most E-Mails" will be judged as winners.

The first place winner will choose from one of the following prizes - the second place winner will then choose from the remaining prizes, and so on.

Here are the prizes being offered for the categories other than "most E-Mails sent":

1.   A Dharma and Greg Emmy consideration tape

2.   A Drew Carey Show Emmy consideration tape

3.   A French Stewart Emmy consideration tape (featuring his Third Rock From the Sun role and a Just Shoot Me role)

4.  A Clown PEZ dispenser, like the one that Jarod uses in "Island of the Haunted"

5.  A Clown PEZ dispenser, like the one that Jarod uses in "Island of the Haunted"

Please note:  The Emmy tapes are in the NTSC format.  Emmy consideration tapes are those submitted by the producers of a show.  They feature what the producers consider to be their finest work that season, in the hopes that they will obtain an Emmy nomination from the judges on the submission panel.  Needless to say, you can't get these just anywhere (and certainly you won't find them being offered anyplace for free LOL), so they are cool things to add to your "collections."

The top five E-Mails (in all categories except "most E-Mails sent") and the names and/or E-Mail IDs of the winners (we don't want to give out your personal info, but we will need something to show that our prizes were actually awarded to real people and we'll be happy to let YOU choose which or what you want posted) will be posted on the front page of Lois' Daily Planet and on the message board at Jamie's Place and Chat on JANUARY 5, 2002.   The first place winner will be contacted and asked to choose a prize as well as submit his/her mailing address, so that we can mail the prize to him/her (which, of course, we will keep private). The second place winner will then be contacted, and so on.

Questions and/or comments can be sent to Karen  since I'm in the midst of switching to a new computer and my e-mail isn't working as well as it should be right now :-(

The prizes for the category "Most E-Mails Sent" aren't being revealed because I don't know how many people will win.  If there are ties, then I'm going to have to award more prizes and that will impact what the prizes might be.  Here's a little incentive to all of you, to vie for being a clear first place winner in this category ... I have an unused red-notebook that I'm willing to offer up as first prize for this category - but I only have ONE - so I can't use it if there is a tie.  Craig Van Sickle and Steven Long Mitchell have books exactly like this one, so even though it was never used as a prop, it's still WAY COOL and if you are a Pretender fan (which I know you are!), you WANT this prize!

That's all there is to it!  Enter every day using as many SEPARATE E-Mail ID's as you want.  If you only have one e-mail ID, you can still end up with 7 entries per week by just using it!

P.S.  I've been suggesting to TNT in my e-mails that since none of the regular characters from the Pretender have landed permanent roles on other series yet, that economically, it would be a smart thing to make several more movies during 2001, even if they plan on "doling them out" at the rate of 2 or 3 a year over the next few years.

Why am I suggesting that?

It would guarantee that all of the original cast can finish the series that we've all been watching for so long.

It would keep any of them from looking any older than they do now, no matter how long it takes to "end" the series.

AND, it would give all of us a good reason to continue watching the re-runs, while we are waiting for the new movies to air.

If any of you agree with my reasoning on this (or have something more to add to it), it wouldn't hurt to dedicate at least one of your e-mails each week to this topic.  With no offense meant to network executives, all they do is play "musical networks" - getting fired from one, then moving on to the next - so they don't exactly ooze original ideas or display the ability to "think outside of the box" very often (if ever).  Whether they know it or not, WE have the answer to their getting and keeping good ratings -- all they have to do is give us what we want to see!  I know, I know ... it's not rocket science and they should be able to figure it out for themselves, but we've all seen what happens when we leave them to their own thoughts on the subject of OUR shows - so 'nuff said on that subject!
