Lyle kidnaps the pregnant wife of the Sheriff of Dry River, Arizona, K.C. Delmont, then buries her in the desert, with a limited amount of gasoline powering the generator that supplies her air. Afterwards, Lyle lures Jarod to town using an e-mail with a password that Jarod believes only Sydney knows, "Refuge." Lyle tells Sheriff Delmont that if he does not turn Jarod over to him when he arrives in Dry River, that he will allow the Sheriff's wife to die. Delmont's Deputy Miller, takes Jarod Barber into custody only minutes after he arrives in town. Just before Miller puts Jarod in jail, her 16 year old son, J.R., collapses and Jarod stabilizes the boy's blood sugar by giving him PEZ. Later, Jarod tells Miller that, judging from the bluish tint of J.R.'s lips and finger nails, he must have a serious heart condition. Miller says that J.R. is on a waiting list for a transplant, but has a rare blood type - AB negative. Jarod comments that he is AB negative, too. When Sheriff Delmont arrives, he takes Jarod to the back of an abandoned foundry, just outside of town, then orders him to enter a trailer, which has some first aid supplies and bloody bandages on the counters. Jarod asks the Sheriff why he won't tell Jarod what has happened. Mr. Lyle enters the room and says, "Because I won't let him." Then, without warning, Lyle hits Jarod in the head with a crowbar, knocking him unconscious. When Jarod regains consciousness, he is shackled and he asks Lyle what it is that he wants. Mr. Lyle replies, "I want everything." Lyle thinks that if he brings Jarod back to the Centre, all will be forgiven, and the Triumvirate will reinstate him to his former position. Miss Parker arrives in town and as she follows Delmont's jeep to the foundry, she herself is followed by Kyle. Lyle has Sheriff Delmont arrest Miss Parker and take her back to town. Lyle plans
to cut off one of Jarod's thumbs to send with his message to the Triumvirate,
but before he can, he is stuck from behind by Kyle.
Miss Parker finally gets Deputy Miller to release her and goes back to the foundry. There, Lyle manages to disarm Miss Parker and uses her as a shield to protect himself from Jarod and Kyle. Miss Parker elbows Lyle and yanks away from him, allowing Kyle to shoot him in the shoulder. Seeing Lyle taking aim at Jarod, Kyle runs toward his brother in an attempt to protect him and Kyle ends up being shot by Mr. Lyle instead. Kyle dies in Jarod's arms. Sydney, Broots and a sweeper team have arrived in a Centre helicopter, but Sheriff Delmont allows Jarod to escape Miss Parker and her team. Jarod uses the Centre helicopter to take Kyle's body to the hospital where his heart is donated for J.R. Miller's transplant. Jarod's last words to Kyle, spoken as he reads about the successful transplant in the paper, are, "Good for you little brother. Good for you." Guest Stars: Christina Chauncey (Mrs. Delmont), John Diehl (Sheriff Delmont), Jesse Head (J. R. Miller), James Newman (Surgeon), Connie Ray (Deputy Marilyn Miller), Bob Taylor (Mitchell Brother), Jonathan Hernandez (Billy Lomax), Lindsay Thompson (Little Girl) and Ed Waterstreet (Mitchell Brother)
